When a leaky pipe in an upstairs unit destroyed much of their cavernous galley kitchen, a long-desired remodel went from dream to reality for this acting-writing-directing couple in North Hollywood. Drawing aesthetically from the MCM vibe of their home, we energized and elevated the windowless workspace by eschewing heavy upper cabinets in favor of open shelving and integrating warm wood and dazzling white finishes with a broad stroke of a midcentury turquoise tile, global textiles, and distinctive lighting. A reimagined lively breakfast nook featuring an upholstered tangerine banquette transforms the once awkward and unused corner into the perfect spot to lounging with a latte in the morning or cocktails at night.
